Learn @ Home during shutdown...
Learn@Home
Dear HMMS Students, Parents, and Families:

We hope this message finds you all safe and well. We wanted to reach out today to let everyone know that we are here and ready to assist with learning at home should you be ready. Although we are living through an unprecedented school shutdown, Henry Munro teachers are working from home and are able to assist with keeping learning moving ahead.

As you should have heard through the media and messaging from the school district, the Ministry of Education has setup some general online resources for students and parents to help mitigate any lost instructional time. These resources are a good starting point for phase 1 of "Learning at Home". Although we are still hopeful for a return to regular school routines soon, we have also been hard at work today documenting much more specific curriculum areas, activities, and resources that complement the specific content HMMS teachers were covering before the March Break. We have setup a dedicated page with specific guidance for each of our classes. Although we realize not everyone will have consistent access to be able to use these resources, we hope that they are helpful to many of you. There are also additional resources specifically tailored to our English Language Learner students and their English proficiency development.

The site also includes contact details for each subject teacher. Should you have any questions about the content please don't hesitate to reach out via email and we will do our best to get back to you. Although supporting learning remotely is new territory for many of us, we will do all we can to assist. Please note that our list of guidance and resources is still a work in progress, and will be updated as the week progresses.

We recognize that parents will have many questions about learning at home that we may not be able to answer as well. Hopefully as the situation evolves, and decisions are made by the provincial government about what supports can be put in place beyond April 6th we will know and be able to share more.

Please take some time to review the HMMS: Learning At Home guide (organized by class).

We look forward to continuing to learn together...
Tim Hawes, Principal
(on behalf of the entire HMMS team)
