Dear Parents/Guardians:

I hope that this message finds you and your family well.  I know that one of the issues that is important to you is getting access to your child’s belongings at the school.

The school district has been working with Ottawa Public Health (OPH)  to develop a plan to do this safely. The plan requires visitors to complete a self-screening assessment prior to entering the school.  It also includes safety measures such as physical distancing, hand washing, use of face masks or coverings, and time limits on access to the school, traffic flow inside the school and restrictions on the number of points of contact in the school.  These actions will help to reduce the risks of exposure to COVID-19 and limit the spread of the virus. 

For those families who choose not to retrieve their personal belongings at this time, their belongings will be safely stored at the school until schools reopen to students during the 2020 - 2021 school year and can be retrieved then.

Here is an overview of the pick-up plan:

  • Notice to Parents - this email explains the process and includes a schedule for pickup times (by student last name)
  • Covid -19 Self-Assessment - on the day of the appointment, prior to attending the school, the person attending must complete a COVID-19 self assessment;
  • Arrive for Appointment - please arrive at the scheduled time and follow the directions for the recovery of personal belongings;
  • Return School Property - Parents can return textbooks and any other school property during their appointment. Please check with your child for the following items that may need to be returned: musical instruments/mouthpiece, library books, textbooks. Please note that at this time, students do NOT need to return loaned Chromebooks at this time - they will be returned at a later date.
  • Other important items that we plan to distribute to families at this time include refunds (from milk/pizza/popcorn/fudge purchases) and Yearbook distribution to those that purchased. Report cards will be sent home electronically this year – more information to follow in the next 2 weeks.

On the day of your appointment, only one family member (parent OR student) will be permitted to enter the school and will be asked to exit promptly once items are retrieved. There will be no access to washrooms at the school so please plan accordingly. For privacy and security reasons families will only be allowed to pickup personal belongings (may NOT pickup for others, unless written/signed consent is provided).
